Privacy Policy

The short version: Ionemo is self-hosted. Your account and your energy data live on the base station in your own home, not on a server we operate. This page explains exactly what that means and the few places data does leave your house.
What Ionemo is
Ionemo is a small base station (a home server you own) paired with an app. The app is a client — when you sign in, it talks directly to your own base station over the internet or your home network. There is no central Ionemo service that your data passes through to make the app work.
What we collect, and where it lives
Everything below is created and stored on your own base station, in a local database, under your control:
- Account details — your email address and a securely hashed copy of your password (we never store your password itself). If you register a passkey (Face ID, fingerprint, or a security key), only its public key is stored — your biometric data never leaves your device, by design of the WebAuthn standard.
- Energy and device data — readings from whatever devices you've connected (solar, grid, EV charger, and so on), and any automation settings you configure.
- Sign-in sessions — a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a record of when your base station was last set up or reset.
None of this is sent to us, sold, or used for advertising. We don't run analytics or tracking of any kind in the app.
The few things that do leave your base station
Two features send a message on your behalf, and only when you use them:
- Password reset emails — if you request one, your base station asks a relay service we operate to deliver it. The relay only ever sees the one email address and message needed to send that one email; it doesn't retain your account or energy data.
- Security alerts — if your base station detects it's been moved to a different network than the one it was set up on, it can email you a heads-up, using the same relay.
Deleting your data
Your base station's Account menu includes a factory reset, which permanently erases your account, devices, and history from that base station. Because everything lives locally, this is immediate and complete — there's no separate copy anywhere else for us to delete.
Children's privacy
Ionemo is a home-energy tool intended for adults managing a household. It isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what data is collected or how it's handled, we'll update the date above and, for any material change, note it in the app's own changelog.
